Called to be holy in our little way
Why did I decide to join the Divine Cosplay?
When I saw the Facebook post containing the invitation to join the Divine Cosplay for the Gallery of Saints, the idea of participating was not really in my mind. However, a few days after I once again noticed the same post and that time a little feeling of excitement and of interest aroused. Reflecting on that sentiment, I thought that the Holy Spirit had touched my heart and urged me to join the noble contest. Not wasting time, I sent my response to the invitation of DXGN to join.
Why St. Therese of the Child Jesus?
I chose to portray St. Therese of the Child Jesus or the “Little Flower” as she was the first saint that entered my mind. Without hesitation, I researched everything about her, the way she dressed, the way she smiles, and all others that signify her devotion to the Holy Face of Jesus. Due to constant research and study about her life, I have known her more.
Moreover, the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish commemorates her feast every October.
I was inspired by the saint for she lived her life doing all things with love and childlike trust in God. She emboldens me so much to live in simplicity and put love at the forefront of my daily life.
During the contest, I felt a little bit nervous but with deep trust and faith, I offered all my concerns and anxieties to the Lord. After the contest, I could hardly imagine that I took the fame as the winner of the Divine Cosplay Contest for the Youth Category. The experience had helped me in discerning what kind of vocation I have to embrace. Furthermore, I want to set a good example to my generation by striving to be a good daughter to my parents and to display actions worth emulating on how to love God and neighbor the best way I could.
I am really grateful to Saint Therese whose presence was very deeply in the whole duration of the contest. I am also indebted to the unconditional support of my family, friends, the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish-Obrero family. With prayers and God’s grace, I will strive to witness on the teaching of St. Therese: to do ordinary things with extraordinary love. I praise and thank God for He is the source of everything. To God be all the glory!
St. Therese of the Child Jesus, pray for us!
