Teachers’ Day in XACOSE
Classes were suspended in the St. Francis Xavier College Seminary or XACOSE on September 23 to celebrate the Teachers’ Day. In the Philippines the 2022 Teachers’ Month was observed from September 5 to October 5. However, there was no official celebration of Teachers’ Day aside from the token commemoration of October 5 as World’s Teachers’ Day.
In XACOSE, the teachers were given tribute for their roles in inspiring the seminarians to do well in their studies and to succeed in life. Seminarians put-on performances and dances to entertain their most-loved teachers with the theme: “Gurong Pilipino: Dangal ng Sambayanang Pilipino.”
The day started with a Eucharistic Celebration of which the rector, Fr. Orly Angelia, was the main celebrant. This was followed by a short program where seminarians, from Propaedeutic Year to Discipleship Year IV (from precollege to fourth year), were able to pay tribute to their teachers through songs, dances, poem-reading, and pantomime which was the most applauded and hilarious presentation. Each teacher received simple gifts from the handiwork of the seminarians.
The lunch was served in the kiosk giving the ambiance that of a highland resort. The seminary teachers – priests and lay formators had fun while sharing a sumptuous banquet prepared by the seminary administration.
Indeed, seminary teachers were happy on teachers’ day. (Sem Roscarl Omboy and Sem Romar Jules Villaceran)
