Single Blessedness

Vocation is a personal calling from God. This is God’s offer for His people. People need to accept it wholeheartedly.

The need to recognize and accept the calling of God must come from the person himself. A person can choose what kind of vocation or calling that he or she wants. This is a process in one’s journey of life. This process is called discernment. It is an opportunity for growth and progress of life with God.

Among the vocations to holiness is single blessedness. This can be sustained through constant prayer and guidance from those who have been part of one’s life’s journey.

The reason why there are people who choose to remain single is because they believe that this is the perfect way to devotedly serve and love God and his people. Others gradually choose single life because they feel that they are called to this kind of life. They become free to love everyone and not just a single person. They develop a personal relationship with Jesus that leads to a perfect way of life.

Those who respond to this vocation are called to serve and love God’s people. They need the gifts and the capacity to totally offer themselves to God and to everyone.

All believers of Christ of whatever status are called to the fullness of the Christian life and to the perfection of love and mercy of God. In order that the faithful Christian may reach perfection, they must use their gifts and talents accordingly as they have received it from God. They must devote themselves with all their whole life for the glory of God and to the service of their neighbour especially to those who are in need. (Bro. Julius Lugay)
