PREX Davao Stands Firm
The Parish Renewal Experience (PREX) Davao members gathered on Saturday, September 3 for its 3rd Family Day guided by the theme: “Giya sa mapadayunong pagbag-o sa kaugalingon, tinubdan sa buhing paglaom.”
The Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Bangkal still served as the venue for the meeting of the many ‘Ates’ and ‘Kuyas’ in the archdiocese. As the event began with the Holy Eucharist, Fr. Voltaire expressed his relief that the Catholic Church stood firm despite the pandemic. In his homily he said, “Our theme today reminds us of our Christian hope that kept us alive after two years of pandemic.” Being able to celebrate this 3rd family day just proved how resilient our faith is.
“Ang atong buhing paglaom sa panahon sa pandemya maoy atong tinubdan sa pagbag-o sa atong kaugalingon ug maoy giya sa atong pagpadayon sa paglihok isip mga ‘Ate’ ug ‘Kuya’ sa PREX dinhi sa Arkidayosis sa Davao,” asserted Father Dimol.
Ate Lucita ‘Leh Chu’ Tan, Coordinator of the Davao Archdiocesan Association of Parish PREX Secretariats (DAAPPS) could not believe that the registration of families reached 170, “God is so good that after two years of pandemic, we are again gathered together, spirited as one Christian family,” Tan said.
Out of 15 outreaches, 8 parishes paraded while bringing their respective banners which included: San Antonio de Padua Parish in Agdao, San Pedro Calungsod Quasi Parish in Baguio District, St. Francis Xavier Parish in Tibungco, Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Bangkal, Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Calinan, Sta. Ana Shrine Parish, Sto. Rosario Parish in Toril, and San Miguel Parish in Panacan.
One highlight during the event was the presentation of a new PREX Logo for Davao which was introduced by Ate Marlyn Lallen of PREX Bangkal and Ate Lydia Malot of PREX Calinan. The new PREX Logo is a symbol of the vigilance and resilience of the 15 outreaches. They remained spirited with Christian hope after two years of facing uncertainties caused by the dreadful pandemic.
