Not mine, but His
Our third jubilarian is our very own Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of the Davao Catholic Herald Rev. Fr. Ritsche “Ching” J. Gamaya who as a boy envied the life of priests because of the mouthwatering multitude of food prepared for priests and got inspired to be one. His knowledge of a priestly life is more about the pastoral aspect in parishes and he was not exposed to the idea of mission not until he was in the seminary.
His current assignment at the Davao Verbum Dei Media Foundation Inc. has made him realize that priests are the best marketing agents. This is because they are visible and because of this visibility they have the most access to people. His interpersonal skills paved the way to a lot of help coming from friends which in turn allowed the FM station to be in the airwaves once again.
This assignment or mission as he calls it is God’s, not his and that probably God has planned to put him here and this is where he is called for holiness. Fr. Ching would like to think that God chose him to be here because if not, then where else would he be? If not, why would he be blessed with the skills he has today.
While he is grateful of this twenty-five years that he has completed, he is more grateful because he fully well knows he will be more blessed to also bless others.
