Military Priest
One of our six Jubilarians or priests who’ll celebrate their 25th sacerdotal anniversary is Rev. Fr. Cirilo “Lolong” O. Bermudez who happens to be a chaplain of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and is already in his 20th year of service.
Being a son of a military man and having lived inside a military camp, he got so used to it that you would probably think he’s missing what it is to be there and you could also figure it out that the military life grew in on him. After, almost 5 years being in the parish Fr. Lolong asked Abp. Emeritus Fernando Capalla’s permission to be of active duty in the forces. Since then he was assigned at different places, different camps to help his comrades with not only their spiritual life but also with the processing of their thoughts and feelings.
When asked if the burning zeal is still there for “mission” he answered, “the vigor is very much present as of this time because if not that will cause much problems. However, there are times or there have been times that that fire is just a flame but I try my very best to enkindle the flame, with the grace of God and have that passion burning again.”
