Food Delivery = Poor Nutrition?
While food delivery is a comfort to Filipinos all over the country, it has been a rising concern that what people order are fast food which lack nutrition. Davaoeños are not exempted from this reality. Delivery apps have been the go to market for most of the working class. It is not just because of the comfort of not having to leave the premises but also, the time which can be spent doing other things while waiting.
It is undeniable however that the most common food services or restaurants are the food chains that offer fast food which lack nutrition. The restaurants which offer home cooked meals sometimes take time and cost higher which cause the consumer to choose those quick recipes on the menu.
Sugary foods and drinks are top on the UST especially during the rise of the famous milk tea. There is no doubt that burger and chicken meals which have a high salt content, are among those which are commonly purchased.
Having food delivered is not bad at all, it is even a smart way to purchase however we must be very careful of our intake given that our lifestyle does not allow us to move so much as we are so accustomed to the comfort of sitting down.
Perhaps it’s a good thing to begin re-assessing the food and drinks we buy for ourselves and for our families to make sure that in the long run our bodies won’t have to take the consequence of our poor decisions. (DCH)
