DaDiTaMa Shepherds
Headed by its Metropolitan bishop, the Most Rev. Romulo G. Valles, D.D., archbishop of Davao, the ecclesiastical province of DaDiTaMa (Davao, Digos, Tagum and Mati), released its post-election pastoral statement last June 29, 2022, Feast of Saints Peter and Paul, apostles. As shepherds, they are so aware of the questions people ask before and after the national and local elections. That is why the tone of their letter is filled with gratitude and prayer. Gratitude for the participation and involvement of our lay faithful, especially the youth. Indeed, our bishops live up to their pastoral office: “Bishops should present the doctrine of Christ in a manner suited to the needs of the times, that is, so it may be relevant to those difficulties and questions which men find especially worrying and intimidating.” (CD 13)
Our dear DaDiTaMa bishops have made good use of whatever means they have in order to preach and promote harmony and solidarity among ourselves in this part of the country. By using the pulpit and the available media of social communications, they have brought the good news to the homes of our faithful. “Bishops should also endeavor to use the various methods available nowadays for proclaiming Christian doctrine.” (CD 13)
With them and with our newly elected and sworn to office public officials, our continued and heartfelt prayers for good of our electorate. May the Blessed Mother, Mary, intercede for us.
