OLLP goes to SILP on 28th feast of San Isidro in Lumondao

A number of lay leaders from the Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Bangkal visited and celebrated with the parishioners of San Isidro Labrador Parish in Lumondao last 15 May 2022 for their 28th Parochial Fiesta.

The highlight was the Pontifical Mass celebrated by Abp. Romulo Valles, DD and was concelebrated by SILP Parish Priest Dexter Veloso, Fr. Russell Bantiles, Fr. Marvin del Campo, Fr. Michael Ondras Jr., and Bp. George Rimando, DD.

In his homily, Abp. Valles said that the life San Isidro Labrador showed is an example of “a simple way of living, back to earth, back to nature”, and, quoting the words of Pope Francis, ‘a simpler way of life’.

From the Gospel, Abp. Valles encouraged the faithful to live a Christian life with “tatak Kristiyano marked in word and in deed”, and from the Acts of the Apostles, to persevere “through all the sufferings always with the spirit of love”. He added that the devotees of San Isidro must “live with Christian hope to see the ‘new heaven and new earth’ in the future,” asserted by Abp. Valles.

Abp. Valles jokingly mentioned that he and Bishop George both were going to give their homily however he saw that most of the people were already sleeping so he thought that it was better if he was the only one to give the homily.

Before the final blessing, SILP Parish Priest Dexter Veloso expressed his heartfelt gratitude to everyone with hope and prayer for all parishioners and devotees to live the simple life according to the examples of San Isidro Labrador.

After the Mass, OLLP lay leaders had camaraderie with the lay people and other visitors of SILP, and had a great catching up moment with SILP Parish Priest, a former and beloved OLLP Parish Priest Father Dexter Veloso.

Viva, Señor San Isidro Labrado!
