GKK Our Lady of Peace Davao Executive Homes, Celebrates 33rd Annual Fiesta
“Mother Mary: Sumbanan isip piniyalan sa nagkahiusang katilingban diha sa gugma ug kalinaw” was the theme for the 33rd Annual Fiesta Celebration of the GKK Queen of Peace at Davao Executive Homes, Matina, Davao City last May 21, Saturday.
The chapel was filled with the faithful despite the rain as they celebrated the annual fiesta. Luckily, the rain happened right after the procession of Mother Mary’s statue. As the people patiently waited for the presider to arrive, they prayed the Holy Rosary and the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy. Fr. Rogelio Rodriguez from San Pablo Parish presided the fiesta mass.
In his opening, he said that the Gospel of the sixth Sunday of Easter is part of the farewell discourse of Jesus’s disciples during the last supper.
In his homily, Fr. Rogelio emphasized that we should not be scared of life’s difficulties since the paraclete, or Holy Spirit, will be the one to help us through them all, and Jesus would never desert us. He also stated that we should all be unified if we continue to love Jesus by following his teachings.
“Kung magpabilin (kita) diha sa gugma sa Ginoo pinaagi diha sa pagsunod sa mga kasugoan sa pagsunod sa Iyang pulong mahiusa kita sa Ginoo” Fr Rogelio said.
Father Rogelio concluded his homily by reminding everyone that we will only be unified if we continue to practice His good teachings, including loving one another as He loved us.
He further said that as long as we follow the Lord and show our love, we shall be joined with the Father and the Son.
Towards the end of the celebration, right before the final blessing, the PSK, Ate Diding showed her appreciation toward the people who were so generous in sharing their blessings to the chapel for the repairs and other projects. With the GKKs support, they will no doubt continue improving as a community. (Erielle Ferrando – ADDU Intern)
