Called to be Saints
We are all called to sainthood. As a matter of fact, we are all holy, we believe that we are pieced with some bits of God Himself and that we are all His children. However, as we age, we realize that staying holy is a daily struggle. We equate holiness to perfection and the standards to perfection differ by the day because we focus so much on what is of this world.
Today two ordinary people whose congregation are here with us in Davao are canonized and will be saints along with others. They have offered their lives to the Lord which we ordinary people will witness. Though in their ordinariness, there are these virtues that stand out. St. Justin Russolillo’s patience, humility and piety have well described him which his brothers have witnessed and were blessed with.
St. Marie Rivier on the other hand was passionate in everything that Jesus’ loved. She made it clear how she loved Jesus by loving what and who He loves.
Knowing these saints, either inspire us to be better or allow us to examine our own lives. As we then examine the quality of lives that we live, we are filled by the Spirit and in our ordinariness we strive to be holy.
