The Lord is risen! Alleluia!
We may have been buried in the problems we face these days. With hope of the post-pandemic days, Davao region has been threatened by the flood and landslide brought about by the rainy season. In some parts of the region, families have found refuge in evacuation centers or may have stayed in their homes with maximum alertness due to the rising waters in nearby rivers.
However, thanks to our disaster response team from the government, non-government and Church sectors, who have offered themselves amidst sleepless nights in order to make our residents secure and safe. Their selflessness is a sharing of the passion of Jesus in making others live. Their willingness to serve is a manifestation of the new life in Jesus who is a man for others.
In our Church life, the faithful must have also felt that new life God has offered through the celebration of Easter as this is the first after the pandemic. The angels played by children singing “alleluias” during the traditional “sugat’ are among the sceneries renewing our remembrance of new life. In the midst of tragedies, the Lord is not short of His assuring presence in every situation we face. He is truly risen as we are filled with hope and joy in our strength in the midst of crises.
With the risen Jesus, we together rise up from the burden that sin brings us for He has freed us with His saving passion. Happy Easter to each and everyone!
