Be Resilient…It’s Our Call!
At times, when venomous insults knock us down, our natural tendency is to bite or sting back real hard to let that someone know how bruised we are with his/her unreflected actions that caused us an irreparable damage. Misconstrued judgment oftentimes results to deep wounds that somehow poison our system of its negativity. When we are disheartened, it is but feasible to just gag up and reflect because ethics just don’t say so nor norms of the society has its say but because it is a Christian way to mellow down and pray.
Human as we are, we incline to inflict back to satisfy our blemished esteem. The colossal effects of such pain would sometimes resort us to plan schemes that would further create disharmony, thus, the yearned peace within would become a fallacy only because one can’t practice resiliency!
It is but apt and proper though to pour out to a confidante, someone whom we can fully trust aside from HIM up there, whom we are comfortable with.
On the reverse side, one must look into himself/herself and see also the log being stuck in his/her very own eyes instead of finding the defects of her fellows. Such individual needs to spare time to know one’s own bounds for stepping out beyond his/her domain that is undemocratic and very unChristian.
We don’t need to be ecclesiastic to have harmonious relationship with our fellowmen. We don’t need either too much euphemisms in this world nor an uncalled acuity to appraise one’s behavior. What we need and what is required of us is just a little empathy, that is, putting ourselves in our fellowman’s shoes.
As the old adage goes, “LIVE AND LET LIVE”. (Lorna B. Reder)
