“God’s love heals a suffering world”

The National Bible Month Celebration every January for the year 2022 bears the theme “God’s love heals a suffering world” (Lamentations 3:22-24/Romans 8:38-39). Dioceses throughout the country exhort the faithful to enthrone the Bible in their homes, communities and parishes.

The Episcopal Commission on the Biblical Apostolate (ECBA) of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) headed by the Most Rev. Sofronio A. Bancud, D.D., deems it fit to renew our trust and hope in the love of God that heals a suffering world in this time of the pandemic.

In the Archdiocese of Davao, the Archdiocesan Bible Apostolate of Davao (ABAD) plans to reflect and meditate on this theme on January 24, 2021, with the plan of inviting the Most Rev. Martin Jumoad, Archbishop of Ozamis and chairman of Paul VI Biblical Center for the Mindanao region. This is the day after the so called Sunday on the Word of God which Pope Francis has declared to be observed every third Sunday of the Ordinary Time in the liturgical calendar. Due to the difficulty of gathering in great numbers, the said activity will be participated virtually by delegates from the different parishes of the Archdiocese of Davao.

Headed by Mrs. Mila Punsalan, ABAD lay coordinator, different activities aside from the Bible enthronemen are suggested to be done in the homes, communities and parishes during the month-long celebrations. Most of the activities like Bible sharing, Bible symposium, Bible Quiz , posting of Bible verses in the social media and the like.

To enhance participation in spreading the Word of God, anyone can also listen to the weekly ABAD radio program in DXGN 89.9 Spirit FM-Davao every Monday at 7:00 in the evening. This program has been an instrument also of the love of God in healing a suffering world. (DCH)
