GKK Celebrates 74th Annual Fiesta of Sr. Sto. Niño

GKK SR. STO. NIÑO of Countryville and Dela Peña Village, Cabantian, Davao City under Zone 5 of the St. Mary of the Perpetual Rosary Parish, Buhangin celebrate its 74th Annual Fiesta on January 15, 2022 honoring “SEÑOR SANTO NIÑO” with the theme: “STO. NIÑO, 500 KA TUIG NGA PAG-ALIMA SA MASALIGON NGA PAGTOO KANIYA”.

The Philippines’ 500 years celebration of our Christianity is the fruit of our faith and acknowledged ardently our devotion to Sr. Santo Niño. Our God the Father desires for us to be the same childlike attitude as Baby Jesus, who is prayerful, humble, a loving child and obedient to her mother Mary and his earthly father St. Joseph wherein we can meditate it in the 5th Joyful Mystery, “The Finding of the Child Jesus in the Temple.”

Without murmuring, hesitation and heavy heart, Jesus follows and returns with them back to Nazareth where He grew up obediently, lovingly and reverently. The attitude of Baby Jesus be our armor and shield to bring and share His light, love and the gospel to our family, to others and to the community as a whole as we continue with our journey with our strong faith back to the Kingdom of God. Even the pandemic cannot prevent us from this celebration but fervently offer our thanksgiving for the protection and guidance that the Baby Jesus sustain and bestow His great love upon us.

As devotees of Señor Santo Niño, our celebration and thanksgiving began with a Novena last January 6, 2022, Thursday and ends on January 14, 2022, Friday to complete the Nine (9) day Novena. Food packs were shared amongst GKK members after the last day of our novena as part of our camaraderie, but we must adhere and follow our health protocol. Our fiesta mass was held at St. Mary of the Perpetual Rosary Parish Church the following day, Saturday, January 15, 2022, at 6:00 o’clock in the morning and was presided by Fr. Boy Roland Ong. Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, some social activities have indeed been put on hold; however, we continue to share and support the activities of our parish.
VIVA PIT SEÑOR! VIVA JESUS! VIVA MARIA! (Dinah B. Gonser, PSKB/FLA)
