Misa De Gallo In Time Of Pandemic
If we remember, last year’s health protocol was tighter than this year. That is why no matter how many of our faithful wished to celebrate Misa De Gallo in person, many of our church goers just afforded to have on line mass or virtual masses.
Thanks to the more relaxed protocol this year. Relaxed in the sense that although we still must need to observe the basics of face mask, hand wash, social distance and avoidance of big gatherings, we now can see more people who can go to mass. This would just tell us, that yes, the Eucharist as sacrament can have meaning in face to face celebration with our brothers and sisters in faith. We hope that this would make of our parishioners feel more the needed preparations for the celebration of the birth of the Savior as we offer the traditional 9-day Misa De Gallo.
The beloved Archbishop of Davao, Most Rev. Romulo G. Valles, D.D., through his circular letter, reminded us of this beautiful practice, Misa De Gallo. As the second phase of the season of Advent and giving honor to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Lord and our mother, we take inspiration from her example of allowing ourselves to become holy as the Savior comes to dwell in our hearts. Like Mama Mary, we are unworthy of the dwelling of the Lord in us and among us. But the grace of the Father makes each one of us worthy as we allow ourselves to be cleansed and prepared for His coming.
Let us make a difference as we celebrate Misa De Gallo this year by offering to God our learnings in this pandemic and live out the constant call of the Lord to be available for Him.
Mama Mary, intercede for us.
