Pueblo Amante De Maria

A people in love with Mary. This describes the faith of the Filipino people. Ever since faith has come to our beautiful land, the beloved Mother Mary has been part in the journey of the Filipino.

In daily life, even without the Breviary or the 4-week guide for praying the Psalms, which the religious and ordained ministers use, the ordinary laity is content with praying the decades of the Holy Rosary. In the life of the Church, in gatherings like the Plenary Council of the Philippines, the Vatican Council, the synods of bishops and the like, the Blessed Mother’s presence and intercession is implored. In the so-called historic EDSA II, the Blessed Mother was part of the scene in making that memorable event bloodless and peaceful.

As we celebrate the Jubilee of the 500 Years of Christianity in the Philippines in this month of October, month of the Holy Rosary, we feel it more concretely to ask for the intercession of Mama Mary, who knows the plight of her beloved sons and daughters. We have recourse to her as we to continue our mission of sharing the faith and to end the COVID 19 crisis. With our heavenly mother who championed all kinds of dangers and trials in life, we can surpass all the hardships we now face.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
