Holy door opens in Caraga

The opening of the Holy Door and the Jubilee celebration in San Salvador Del Mundo Parish, Caraga, Davao Oriental marks the formal opening of the localized celebration of the 500 Years of Christianity in the Philippines in the local Church of Mati.

The opening of the Holy Door in San Salvador del Mundo Parish was led by Most Rev. Abel C. Apigo, DD, Bishop of Mati together with Mati Clergy.

Caraga was one of the towns where Catholic faith and culture of the native tribe thrives successfully. Caragueñous proudly preserve their culture and belief. It is hoped that they would preserve this marriage of faith and culture for another five hundred years and that they would share their faith to many other generations.

The localized celebration of the 500 Years of Christianity in the Philippines was launched April 9, 2021 through simultaneous ringing of bells and the celebration of the Holy Mass in all parishes in the Diocese of Mati.
