Saint Joseph and the Family
Today, we end the month-long celebration of Pro-life month spearheaded by the Family and Life Apostolate of each diocese in the country. We hope to continue to savor the values of the sacredness and importance of family life throughout the year.
In his apostolic letter “Patris Corde” (With a father’s heart), Pope Francis declared a “Year of Saint Joseph” from December 8, 2020 to December 8, 2021. We need to be reminded of the faith of Saint Joseph in this time of the pandemic and to build our individual families with the same faith.
“The Holy Family had to face concrete problems like every other family, like so many of our migrant brothers and sisters who, today too, risk their lives to escape misfortune and hunger. In this regard, I consider Saint Joseph the special patron of all those forced to leave their native lands because of war, hatred, persecution and poverty” (Patris Corde 5).
St. Joseph, obtain for us grace, mercy and courage, and defend us from every evil. Amen.
