RE: SPECIAL COLLECTION FOR THE PONTIFICAL MISSIONARY WORK OF THE HOLY CHILDHOOD, 17 JANUARY 2021
Peace!
On 17 January 2021, the Philippine Church will celebrate the Feast of the Sto. Niño, which is also designated as Holy Childhood Day. On this day the Pontifical Missionary work of the Holy Childhood is remembered as we give special attention to children as protagonists in the mission of the Church.
Specific intentions may be inserted in the general intercessions at Mass and the Liturgy of the Hours. Parents and educators are to inculcate in the children an active interest in, and devotion to, the Missions. Children are told to pray, do good works, and offer sacrifices for the Missions. They are asked to recite one Our Father and one Hail Mary with the invocation “St. Francis Xavier, St. Therese of the Child Jesus, pray for us and for all the children of the world.”
On this day, a special collection at all Masses and the evening before should be made and is to be submitted to the Chancery within 15 days. The remittances will be forwarded to Rome for distribution to children in the whole world.
With prayers and best wishes, I remain
Devotedly yours in Christ,
+Romulo G. Valles, D.D
Archbishop of Davao
