“Let us not be complacent” – Archbishop Valles
The Most Rev. Romulo G. Valles, D.D., archbishop of Davao and President of Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) reminds priests and lay faithful to religiously continue following the protocols in celebrating the liturgy in the midst of COVID-19 pandemic.
In his text message sent to priests, we read: “A REMINDER: Let us not be complacent! Please strictly follow hygiene protocols! And also, strictly observe hygiene protocols related to the conduct of our liturgical celebrations in our parish churches and chapels. Let us continue praying for each other especially during these days of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
This was his fatherly warning after the parish of St. Francis of Assisi in Maa was advised for lockdown last January 2 when Monsignor Paul Cuison, Parish Priest, Fr. Marvin del Campo and Bro. Alcris Panganiban were found COVID-19 positive.
The Eucharistic celebrations with the public in attendance in the parishes in Davao continues with care and caution so as not to put mass goers in greater danger. Parish volunteers, most of them youth, are on alert. (DCH)
