Christmas without the public
The beloved Pope will celebrate Christmas in private, that is, without the public in attendance. In his mass, as was done in Easter, a chosen few among his diplomats will be present but these celebrations will be live-streamed for the public. This also happens to many of our local churches like in Davao.
The uniqueness of this year’s Christmas celebrations brings us to the time Jesus came into the world when there was silence and his birth was in private. We can be the modern magi who aspire to encounter him with our gifts for those who are less fortunate these days. It is our call to search for him and hand him our assistance in the weary and poor brethren of ours.
May those who feel alone, rejected and deprived of their livelihood and security find consolation in our generous hearts who know how to share a part of our blessings. Yes, this might be a Christmas without the public but we can approach our needy brethren in private to bring them the true presence of the Savior who liberates them from suffering and brings them true peace and joy.
