Souls Month
“The month of November, especially All Souls’ Day, is a traditional time for visiting graves of loved ones, as is the anniversary of death” (Ordo). But this year, with COVID-19 pandemic, we were forbidden to visit graves on the said day. Does this mean we also stop praying for our beloved departed? Not at all! This does challenge us that wherever we are, in whatever situation, we can never be separated from each other even from our beloved departed.
Indeed, nothing can separate us from the love of God, trial or distress, hardship or death. No one can stop us from offering intentions for our dead brethren. Our parishes, oratories, and even our media outlets, like DXGN 89.9 Spirit FM can be our companion in our desire to remember our beloved dead. Make good use of the whole month of November to offer the needed prayers for our dearest departed including those who have no one praying for them.
May the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace. Amen.
