A Time To Offer Prayers
Every November 2 is the Commemoration of All Faithful Departed also known as All Souls’ Day. It’s an opportune time to offer prayers and remember the times we had spent with our loved ones who have gone before us. As for me and my children, we will be remembering my beloved spouse who died nine years ago. He will be recalled as a loving husband and father. His love for family, dedication in his work and enthusiasm for sports are what made him special. He is always included in our prayers not only during All Souls Day but everyday. We do hope to be reunited with him in heaven, someday.
Moreover, during this year’s All Souls Day, most significantly we will be reminiscing those loved ones who died from Covid-19. Let us pray for the eternal repose of their souls. Also, it is our hope that the number of deaths caused by the said pandemic be lessened or if possible there be no more deaths at all. So, let us follow the health protocols which has been reminded by our government and church officials every now and then. By doing it, we and our loved ones won’t become victims of Covid-19 that might be the cause of untimely death.
We know that all of us will be facing death but only God knows when. It was said on Psalms 139:16 “you saw me before I was born. The days allotted to me had all been recorded in your book, before any of them ever began.” Said bible passage tells us that our days here on earth are already planned by God. By that, we should be ready and live our lives in tune by God’s purpose.
On another note, I am sharing with you below a prayer for our beloved dead that was posted at Catholic.org.
God our Father,
Your power brings us to birth,
Your providence guides our lives,
and by Your command we return to dust.
Lord, those who die still live in Your presence,
their lives change but do not end.
I pray in hope for my family,
relatives and friends,
and for all the dead known to You alone.
In company with Christ,
Who died and now lives,
may they rejoice in Your kingdom,
where all our tears are wiped away.
Unite us together again in one family,
to sing Your praise forever and ever.
Amen.
