DCH Yanong Muloy Abp Valles

To be godly and to be divine is our basic calling

An excerpt from the homily of the Most Rev. Romulo G. Valles, D.D., Archbishop of Davao and CBCP President during the Vocation Month Launching of the Archdiocese of Davao in St. Francis Xavier Regional Major Seminary of Mindanao, Catalunan Grande, Davao City, September 12, 2020. (Part 2 of 3)

But quickly, we know that is restored basic catechism, basic, very basic that is restored all new back to the original when were baptized – kani kinonsehal gyud ni akong wali karon. Basic, restored na, ang frequency naa na but not so sure as of yet because sin is there. So therefore when we say calling simply in the general sense the Lord wants us to hear His voice so that we will remember who we are. And what is our fundamental, basic constitution that we’re all godly, that we’re all by divine orientation, everyone has a “pang-langit” nga orientation. Dungagan pa nato, therefore each one when called and listen carefully will be activated into godly ways, heavenly ways.

And what are godly ways, what are heavenly ways, what pattern is that, what answer – unsa may pasabot ana Bishop? So when we discover ourselves in the call we are moved, kung makuha nato to give ourselves that is what’s like divine, godly orientation, to empty ourselves. So therefore kung ma-gets nato na, we can hear the call moingon ta bisan nagkagidlay, bisan emptying malipayon gihapon simply because na-gets nato ang atong original structure. Sibo pag-ayo, clear, kuha nato ang atong basic nature, we are capable to do that. Proof Archbishop! – Salamat sa Roman Catholic Church. Proof! – Saints, capital “S” ug Nobyembre 2, small “S” pa gyud, we believe, it is doable, possible.

And therefore if I continue that they seek calling of God so that mapagawas ang atong basic orientation pagka-godly, pagka-divine, pagka-giving that comes out in many ways. Mao nay basic framework sa atong gitawag vocation month, I know there are mga focus pa but therefore there’s a call to be – naa man na sa atong vocation campaign to be married life. I’m a little bit not, I’d like the call to be fathers and mothers, the call to be parent’s maoy nindot nga description – That’s a call. Giving vocation of parents, vocation of mama and papa, of course the vocation of having a family – so beautiful. Because in the family there sa tinuod nga pagpuyo – mura pud ko ug minyo ha, pero nadunggan lang naku na ha, pagpuyo sa mama ug papa giving pag-ayo. Kung giving kaayo ang parents most likely it will be a happy family.
