Catechists’ Day
Today, September 13, is National Catechists’ Day, the culmination of the National Catechetical Week. In all churches, we offer prayers and material contribution for our catechists.
In this time of the pandemic, when there are no face to face classes, our catechists are challenged like our school teachers on the manner of teaching catechism to our students in school. St. Paul says, “woe to me if I do not preach the Gospel.” Our catechists, second to the family, are the first teachers of the faith.
Concrete challenges are that our teachers find it difficult to provide for themselves computers and online access with their students. It is also difficult for them to print modules for their classes. But whether this is difficult or not, our mission is to continue to spread the good news of God’s love.
Let us support our catechists in whatever way we can, for all of us are catechists by virtue of the mission we received when we were baptized.
