Faithful who cannot attend Mass at the Parish thankful for GKK Mass

Full gratitude and joy was felt by the faithful and GKK members of Sto. Niño Chapel at Panacan Relocation in Davao City under the parochial jurisdiction of San Miguel Parish of Panacan when GKK Mass was celebrated at the chapel on Sunday, August 23.

Every 4th Sunday of the month is the monthly mass schedule of the said community that is usually presided by the Parish Priest of San Miguel Parish of Panacan.

Due to quarantine during the pandemic, the mass schedule has been stopped for a while to secure health safety and follow protocols. Recently, when already at MGCQ, the mass has been celebrated again with the Parish Priest of San Miguel Parish of Panacan Rev. Fr. Mervin George Maglana which started at 7:30 in the morning and was attended by the residents full of faith and love.

Likewise, the Barangay Captain of Panacan Capt. Doce Apostol was also present together with the rest of the community members. According to Maria Elena Bertulfo, a PREX Panacan Member and GKK active member also, “…dako akong kalipay nga nabalik na ang Santos nga Misa sa atong kapilya kay ang mga katawhan uhaw na sa Pulong sa Diyos ug ang uban usab nga dili makaadto sa Parokya, maka-attend na gayod kay walking distance nalang,” Bertulfo said.

Moreover, Health Protocols were observed during the mass. The faithful followed the physical distancing as mandated by the GSLs during the celebration and occupied only 50 percent of the total seating capacity inside the chapel. “Adunay mga timailhan nga makita sa bangko ug salog,” Ric Otero an active member told in an interview.

The GKK leaders assigned two persons for listing the attendance and checking the body temperature that listed more than a hundred individuals. Other members occupied the outside portion of the chapel since there were no more seats inside. (Rusty Salazar Corsame)
