Pandemic bars priests from visiting brother’s wake
With the Enhanced Community Quarantine still in effect in Davao City, the Clergy from the Archdiocese of Davao were not able to visit the wake of their Vicar General at San Pedro Cathedral.Msgr. Leonardo Vicente who passed away April 26, had his remains laid for the wake at the main church of San Pedro Cathedral.
Upon the instruction of the Archbishop of Davao Romulo G. Valles and in consultation with the City Government of Davao, only the family members of Msgr. Vicente were able to attend the wake starting April 28.
The rite of acceptance was broadcast over DXGN 89.9 Spirit FM Facebook Page.
The interment was set on May 1 at the Roman Catholic Cemetery.
Msgr. Vicente passed away 20 days after he celebrated his 42nd sacerdotal anniversary last April 6. He is known as Msgr. Nards to the lay faithful and fellow priests.
He was the rector of the San Pedro Cathedral before his passing. Among his assignments were as the first Filipino parish priest of Sta. Ana Shrine Parish when the PME Fathers turned over its administration to the archdiocese, Oeconomus of the Archdiocese of Davao, parish priest of San Pablo Parish in Juna Subdivision, parish priest of St. Jude Thaddeus Parish, spiritual director of Spirituality Formation Year of St. Francis Xavier Regional Major Seminary and missionary in West Indies in Castries.
