OLLP creates prayer warriors amid pandemic crisis

Barely days after Davao City was locked down due to the worsening pandemic COVID-19 and the suspension of mass gatherings including Eucharistic celebrations, some lay leaders of the Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Bangkal met online and created a video conference group to pray daily the morning vespers.

The concept, initiated by Sis Marlyn Lallen, started last March 24, ten days after OLLP Parish Priest Father Henry Campeon said his last public mass with the OLLP formators prior to the citywide lock down.

“This is for God to hear our prayers; we are the prayer warriors,” stated by Lallen in her opening salvo after the group settled the small prayer group online and called themselves as ‘OLLP Bangkal Prayer Warriors’.

“Let us make this chat group a holy one; this is an inspiration of the Holy Spirit,” said Lallen, “to strengthen us in this time of fear and sadness”.

The warriors meet online every 5:00 a.m. reflecting, singing and sharing on the Gospel of the day, they also share their personal petitions and prayers, including the Oratio Imperata.

The flow of the daily session was outlined by Sis Virginia Nacario. The warriors also followed the ‘Recollection on Air’ through DXGN Spirit-FM, and shared their insights facilitated by Bro Manuel Rosales; instructions and assignments for the daily prayer sessions were given offline.

OLLP Bangkal Prayer Warriors are inviting our lay leaders to join the chat group; and whoever is interested to join, just inform Sis. Marlyn Lallen, and be one in our prayers to fight COVID-19 pandemic.

Father Campeon, however, assumes his daily private Masses through live streaming via OLLP Facebook account. (Vonz Hijada | OLLP Formator/SoCCom)
