Davao expands curfew hours amidst COVID-19
After imposing a 24-hour liquor ban last Sunday in Davao Region, a 12-hour curfew has been imposed to combat the spread of coronavirus.
“No liquor and any other alcoholic or intoxicating drink shall be sold, served or consumed in public 24 hours of the day during the state of public health emergency,” as stated in the memo from the Davao Region COVID-19 Task Force.
The curfew set from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM effective April 7 bans residents to go out of their houses except in cases of emergencies or if going to work in the exempted sectors/frontline offices.
In Davao City, Mayor Sara Duterte issued a memorandum that government offices must work from home and leave a minimal number of employees to continue work in offices except for agencies involved in security, health, social services, sanitation and disaster who are required to work full force.
All private establishments and offices must close for the Enhanced Community Quarantine which will last until April 19.
Groceries, supermarkets, wet markets/palengkes, food commissaries, food processing or manufacturing, food delivery services, wholesale food outlets, convenience stores, sari-sari stores, hospitals, medical laboratories, pharmacies, drugstores, other health services/personnel, banks and ATMs, savings and credit cooperatives are allowed to open during the ECQ.
Meanwhile, churches still do not have public masses and the faithful are encouraged to attend online masses streamed via Facebook and other online channels. (JFF/DCHerald)
