#UNPLANNED (A Reflection)
The movie unplanned opened up the eyes of every individual that at the moment of conception, there is already life in it, which some individuals do not know about as depicted in the movie. As for my personal reflection, abortion is never really an option if the pregnant woman decided not to pursue her pregnancy; it is because the procedure is harmful to the woman, aside from the complications it might bring, worst is it might be the cause of her death. At the same time, the act is clearly a violation against commandment #5 which is “Thou shall not kill”. Fr. Martin, O.P., said that our Catholic faith stands unshaken in its defense of the unborn, and the Catechism teaches:
“Human life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception.
From the first moment of his existence, a human being must be recognized as having the rights of a person – among which is the inviolable right of every innocent being to life.” (#2270)
There were many married women just like me who have a difficulty conceiving and the scenes in the movie doing the procedure of abortion really breaks me. They forgot that the baby in their womb, which they consider as a problem is the blessing that the other women are praying for. “How I wish they were mine,” were the words that exactly linger in my mind during that time.
The movie teaches us that at some point in our lives, there were things that we plan that are not in accord with God’s plan that is why we do not get it or the delay and there were things that are actually happening in our lives that were not also according to our plan. We forget that we need to align our plans to the plan of God who knows what is best for us. And all that we have to do is to fully trust God’s plan so that at the end of the day, we could not say that what was happening to us are unplanned. (Mary Richelle L. Boholano)
