National Migrants’ Sunday
Almost every Filipino family has a member, at least a relative, who works or have worked abroad. The reason is simple: greener pastures. Whether their motivation is achieved or not, their experience of being away from their loved ones in a foreign culture and different weather condition, is worth praying for. Their plight calls us to remember them in our intentions, so that they may have the strength to be single-minded and physically fit to perform their tasks. Let us remember that many of them serve as evangelizers by their simple witness of the Christian faith.
As a source of pride for every Filipino family, our migrant workers need our support and gratitude. They deserve our respect and constant welcome whenever they return for a visit or for good as they have offered their lives for their loved ones. Even if our country can offer the greener pasture our migrants dream, being on the move for a mission abroad can be our response of making our faith known by the very life a migrant lives.
