SUGID History: The Diocese of Digos
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Digos was established on Nov 5, 1979. Its territory includes the Davao del Sur and Davao Occidental and it belongs to the ecclesiastical province of Davao also known as DaDiTaMa which means Davao – Digos – Tagum and Mati. Its Patron Saint is San Isidro Labrador and the cathedral is named the Mary Mediatrix Of All Grace Cathedral located at Rizal Ave, Digos City. The first bishop was the late Generoso C. Camiña, P.M.E. who served from 1979 to 2003. The second and current bishop is Most Rev. Guillermo Dela Vega Afable who served from 2003 to present. He was installed on Feb 11, 2003. It has 8 Vicariates, 5 mission stations with regular priests and 23 parishes.
