PWDs showcase talents in ABLE The Musical II
“ABLE The Musical II” was presented by current and former residents of the Our Lady of Victory Training Center last October 19 at the RSM Event Center of the Philippine Women’s College of Davao.
Together with the Fidelis Choir of Cebu City under Maestro Julyone Sacay, accompanied by musicians from the Universidad de Sta. Isabel Conservatory of Music – Naga City, Sta. Isabel College of Music – Manila, Silliman University – Dumaguete City, University of the Visayas – Cebu City, and Davao City, our differently abled brothers and sisters wowed us with their beautiful voices with excellent music by the orchestra led by Maestro Niño Machica of Naga City.
Special thanks to Sr. Glenda Java, D.C., Executive Director of the Our Lady of Victory Training Center, for conceptualizing the whole show, training and helping in harnessing the full potentials of all the performers.
The musical is a tribute to Sr. Cecelia Wood, a Maryknoll nun and a Doctor who founded the Our Lady of Victory Training Center 38 years ago with its mission to treat, rehabilitate and train indigent children and young adults with disabilities so they can live normal and productive lives. She was 95 when she passed away two years ago, but her legacy and her mission lives on in their facility in Camudmud, Island Garden City of Samal.
It was truly a night to remember for both the audience and the performers, who were once “disabled”, but were “enabled” and are now “able”. (Brenda P. Milan)
