BEC

The archdiocese of Davao together with its suffragan dioceses of Digos, Tagum and Mati is the host of the 4th Basic Ecclesial Community (BEC) National Assembly on November 11-14, 2019. The theme is “Discerning the Challenges of the BEC Journey in the Light of the New Evangelization.”

The objectives are: to look back in the primacy of BECs in the Philippines since the last assembly in 2015 and the 50-year experience of the Davao, Digos, Tagum and Mati as new way of being church; to discern the challenges that BECs face in the light of the New Evangelization and the 500th year of Christianization of the Philippines.

As the archdiocese of Davao joyfully welcomes all the delegates of this historic gathering of God’s people, we pray that they may be enriched by the BEC experience in Davao which started in the early 1970s. “It is noteworthy that because of their being of the Church, the GKKs (BECs) should be viewed as integral part of the parish community (Guidelines and Norms of the Gagmay’ng Kristohanong Katilingban, Archdiocese of Davao, 2014, p. 7).
