The PREX Experience

The PREX or Parish Renewal Experience is a 2 ½ – day seminar, held usually on a weekend, is aimed at Renewing Parishes in the New Evangelization. It is widely spread in the Catholic Parishes all over the country. Starting on a Friday Evening and ending on the evening of Sunday, the talks and the sharings during the weekend will make one understand the different practices in the Catholic faith and why they are done. PREX gives one the opportunity to open one’s heart and mind and learn to discern God’s will. While enriching one’s own spirituality, PREX, during the whole seminar, also aims for the participant to become reacquainted with oneself and guide him or her to learn what it means to forgive, be healed and be reconciled with GOD and with the people he is connected with. Thus, he walks out of the seminar feeling spiritually enriched, refreshed and feeling whole.

PREX was brought to SFX Parish-Tibungco by Parish Priest Fr. Jhun Gimeno in March 15, 2019. The first PREX Seminar (for Batch 1) had 69 graduates and was facilitated by PREX Calinan, Panacan and other outreaches under the guidance of Lead Couple Kuya Pepe and Ate Mai, Ate Lyds, and Ate Leh Chu and others. To date, PREX-Tibungco already has 8 batches with almost 400 members.

September 29, 2019 marks the first fellowship gathering of all PREX graduates in the Parish. The theme for this year’s gathering “Going DEEPER, Growing STRONGER, Soaring HIGHER for God’s Glory”, was conceptualized by PREX Archdiocesan President “Ate” Leh Chu Tan. It was launched with a Holy Mass presided by Fr. Jhun Gimeno. The gathering, which lasted for the whole day, was full of surprises with presentations from the different batches and even from the different outreaches like Calinan and Baguio District. A sumptuous lunch was served and enjoyed by everyone. To top it all, PREX DADITAMA Vice President, Engr. Ruddy Sultan also came to grace the first-ever fellowship with his presence and give inspiration to PREX-SFX Tibungco.

In the end, everybody enjoyed the day for it was “their” day. They went home with smiles not only on their faces but in their hearts too. (Vivien Therese L. Bonzon | SFX SoCCom)
