Last September 30, 2019, Davao Light and Power Co., Inc. turned over fifty (50) solar lanterns to the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) to illuminate households of an IP community in Sitio Paraiso, Tapak, Paquibato.

The donation is in support to NCIPs Integrated Ancestral Domain Development Approach (IADA), which aims to address the economic issues of the indigenous groups through culturally-sensitive programs. It is also in support to the Davao City’s local peace initiative, Peace 911.

“Davao Light upholds to its commitment to be of service to all communities within its franchise even those in the off-grid areas and this is just one of the many that we want to reach out. We hope that these solar lanterns will create an impact in the improvement of the living conditions of the members of this IP community,” said Rodger S. Velasco, Davao Light President and COO.

Present during the turn over ceremony are NCIP XI Regional Director Atty. Geroncio Aguio, NCIP Davao City Provincial Officer Cristito Ingay, Focal Person of Peace 911 of the City Government of Davao Roger Baay, Davao Light Community Relations Manager Fermin Edillon, and Davao Light Vice President for Engineering Mark Valencia.

Davao Light will continue to advance business and communities through its Corporate Social Responsibility programs.
