Rosary as Miniature NT
Last week’s Shalom we reminded ourselves that the most important thing in praying the rosary is meditating on the lives of Jesus and His Mother Mary. The episodes or aspects of their life are called mysteries.
Meditating on these mysteries is essential in this form of prayer. Why? Because it helps us imitate the admirable and beautiful behavior of Jesus and Mary.
To facilitate meditation we need to read the New Testament (NT) part of the Holy Bible or at least the so-called four gospels. The most important of these mysteries are narratives written by St. Matthew the first gospel, St. Mark the second gospel, St. Luke the third gospel, and St. John the fourth gospel, in their order of appearance in the New Testament.
The appearance of the four gospels has given reason for people to say that praying the rosary is “praying with the bible”, for, “the rosary is the miniature New Testament”.
