Indigenous Peoples’ Sunday
“It is essential to draw near to new forms of poverty and vulnerability, in which we are called to recognize the suffering Christ, even if this appears to bring us no tangible and immediate benefits. I think of the homeless, the addicted, refugees, Indigenous peoples, the elderly who are increasingly isolated and abandoned and many others.” (EG 210)
Let us allow these words of Pope Francis to knock at our hearts as we celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Sunday which is also known as Extreme Poverty Day. The Indigenous Peoples Apostolate of the Archdiocese of Davao headed by Fr. Florencio Acedo, Jr. have programs for our beloved brethren who are a minority. They need our financial and moral support. Our concrete help to them will not go unrewarded when our time will come to face the Savior who is in the disguise of the least, last and lost.
