Heaven is the destination
Excerpts of the Homily of Most Rev. Romulo Valles, D.D., Archbishop of Davao, during the fiesta of Birhen sa Kasilak, New Loon, Mintal, September 8, 2019.
Our faith is part of who we are.
To our young people, keep the faith. And our faith to God is always with the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Our Blessed Mother is always with us so that we can be closer to God.
In one of our prayers, it says, “O, Lord God, Our Father, look upon us with compassion. Because you saved us, and made us your Sons and Daughters in Christ, give us the real independence and bring us to Heaven.”
Our intention in today’s fiesta is to reach Heavens.
“Bring us to Heaven that is the legacy that you promised us.”
My young people, always take note of the promise of God.
Our destination is the Heaven.
In this generation today, many things are very confusing. We might get confused with other heavens that can be seen in superficial things like in Facebook, the internet or just anywhere else.
The real Heaven has many competitions.
We are worried of you.
We must remember that while it is good that we have freedom for our choices but we must remember what is our goal. What is our destination?
We must look forward to the real Heaven.
In one of our readings, it says, “Who is the one who can understand the guidance of the Lord? Who is the one who can scrutinize the things that the Lord desires to do?”
“Because what the people say may not be trusted.”
