Davao City Water District (DCWD) sponsored Dagayday sa Barangay 2019
Davao City Water District like other businesses has been aiming for excellent service among the people of Davao City. Recently, its Customer Service Department had been sponsoring a big project called “Dagayday sa Barangay.” It is a corporate social responsibility to the upland communities under their area of responsibility. The term Dagayday is a Visaya term which means “flow away or trickle”. Dagayday sa Barangay is a project that will benefit not only the people in the upland particularly the remote areas under the areas cover by the operation of the Davao City Water District.
Dagayday sa Barangay has been offering free medical checkup and medications, laboratories and x-rays, dental services, haircut, optical services and immunizations. Everything is for free. The following barangays had benefited from the various services offered by the Davao City Water District (DCWD) through its Dagayday sa Barangay: June 6, 2019 Malagos Park, June 18, 2019 Baragay Hall of Carmen, July 9, 2019 Sitio Saro Guinga, July 23, 2019 Upper Tamugan, August 13, 2019 Barangay Hall Tambobon, and finally August 27, 2019 at Sitio Ladian Marilog District, the last area they have visited.
Janice D. Onglao , 38 years old with her daughter, an 8-year-old Julian Onglao, had really appreciated the effort saying, “Dako kaayo ni og tabang namo, kini pa bay among gastosan ug pamasahian?” (This is really of help to us considering our fare and other expenses.) Luderico Luces, 49 years old, Edgar Hagaya 49 years old, both residing in the place and members of UBU-MANUVU Tribe were so grateful, adding, “Karon pa mi kaagi ani nga kumpleto gyud ang ilang serbisyo ilabina sa serbisyo sa laboratory ug libreng ibot ngipon.” (This is our first experience with complete laboratory services and free tooth extractions.) Camille Margarette U. Solon, a Customer Service Assistant D Community Relations and External Affairs Department, had also stressed that despite the weather conditions in the area, with zero visibility plus cold and fogging, people are still coming just to avail the services offered.
There were also private and public partners that were requested by the agency to deliver the best services to the people like the Euhealth Care Diagnostic Laboratory, the Davao City Health Office and other private services. Thousands of people had availed of the generosity and outreach program of the Dagayday sa Barangay operations. Audrey Hepburn once said, “You will discover that you have two hands, one is for helping yourself and the other is for helping others”. (Edgar V. Floresca)
