Babak’s son ordained priest
BABAK, IGACOS — Another young man from the parish of Virgen Dolorosa Parish in Babak was ordained to the priesthood during a ceremony held, August 24.
Rev. Fr. Mark Kim Samones was ordained as priest through the laying on of hands of Archbishop Romulo G. Valles on his head.
Priests of the Archdiocese of Davao, religious and other priests who were classmates of the newly-ordained attended the ceremony, to which the archbishop described as what the Church is on earth.
The archbishop, in his homily, said that ordaining Fr. Samones is the priest’s personal answer to the calling to the priesthood.
He said he is thankful to the parents of the young priest for giving him to the Church.
He added that Fr. Kim became a priest not because of his merits but the sheer goodness of the Lord, even as he told the faithful that forever they will sing the goodness of the Lord for giving another priest to the Archdiocese of Davao.
Archbishop Valles advised Fr. Samones that the main work of the priest is to always remind people not to lose hope—to lead them to see the grace of God.
“To see the inner grace and beauty of the Church,” he said, adding that he should see what is difficult to see in the world today.
He also said that he should preach that God is present even in the periphery.
