From Banker to Priest: Fr. Ramon Jamora, Jr. ordained

A young man’s life changed forever inside St. Francis of Assisi Parish in La Verna, Buhangin, August 5.

It was the day when Fr. Ramon Jamora, Jr., 34, a parishioner of this parish, received the sacrament of ordination through the laying on of hands of Archbishop Romulo G. Valles on his head.

It was an intimate ceremony for this newly-established church as Fr. Ramon is their first diocesan priest who hails from this parish.

Archbishop Emeritus Fernando R. Capalla, fellow Davao Clergy and visiting priests have concelebrated during the Holy Mass and rite of ordination.

Fr. Pedro Lamata, parish priest together with the different communities headed by lay leaders prepared a luncheon after the mass to the delight of visitors present. A short program was also held during the celebration.

Looking back, Fr. Ramon could have chosen married life as he had a girlfriend and a stable job in a bank but God’s call has brought him to his chosen vocation for the salvation of souls.

It was through his involvement with Bukas Loob sa Diyos (BLD) Community that Fr. Ramon found meaning in serving God, which he also mentioned during his message of gratitude before the Holy Mass on his ordination ended.

He had his seminary formation at the Holy Apostles Senior Seminary and was ordained deacon last September 3, 2018 at the San Pedro Cathedral.

Today, Fr. Ramon will continue his stint as Dean of Seminarians of St. Francis Xavier College Seminary while serving as Vocation Director of the Archdiocese of Davao.

“I firmly believe that He will sustain me in the ministry that I am going to have until the last days of my life,” said Fr. Ramon on his interview with the parish newsletter, Ang Parakletos whose first issue bears the banner story about Fr. Ramon and his journey towards priesthood.
