St. Vincent Ferrer, Patron of Builders
Happy fiesta to San Vicente Ferrer Shrine, Mulig, Toril, Davao City!
Many miraculous stories have been told about this patron saint in Mulig, here in the Archdiocese of Davao. Devotees from different places all over Mindanao flock to the place interceding for the help of San Vicente in the said shrine.
Born on January 23, 1357, he is known as the patron of builders because he strengthened the Church through preaching, missionary work, in his teachings, as confessor and adviser. Once he said, “A vain question deserves nothing but silence. So learn to be silent for a time; you will edify your brethren and silence will teach you to speak when the hour is come.”
During this season of Lent, let us observe silence as our way of prayer. Instead of complaining or criticizing the faults of others, we better pray for them in silence. If we cannot help others and society, we better spend some time in silence and offer our prayers for each one’s weakness. This could be a better way of building one another in the faith.
St. Vincent, pray for us!
Vincentius Pius
