Promenade night in ALS Tibungco district successful

The Alternative Learning System Tibungco District Implementers conducted a very successful Promenade Night 2019 last March 17 which was held at F. Bustamante Central Elem. School Gym, Tibungco, Davao City.

It aims to teach the Learners about socialization and proper etiquette by means of getting to know each other and participating in different activities within the program. This is also a way of building character among them.

The event started around 4 o’clock in the afternoon with a grand entourage of the Instructional Managers and InFed Cum Livelihood Facilitators. Ma’am Cristita Bation, an Education Program Specialist for ALS, and the Barangay Captain of Panacan, Capt. Doce Apostol joined in the promenade celebration. Ma’am Janice Elaguison, Principal II of Bustamante elementary school where the event was conducted, was also present representing Ma’am Filipinas B. Samblingo, the District Supervisor.

There were presentations of the different virtues with a short message delivered by some ALS learners then followed by the lighting of symbolic candle representing the light of Christ in the world. Likewise, the ALS learners also had the traditional exchange of flowers and candles which always takes place during JS Proms.

Everyone was given the chance to dance with their chosen partner in the Cotillion De Honor, another traditional observance of JS Proms. The ALS promenaders were very happy and inspired during the night because they were able to experience a regular JS Prom..

“Dako kaayo ang akong pagpasalamat sa inyong pagpaningkamot nga mahimo kining Promenade Night (I am very thankful for your endeavour to pursue this Promenade Night),” Sir Alvin Olaer, MAT, the District Coordinator said in his closing remarks.

Juraine De Gracia, an ALS learner from the class of Sir Alvin at Panacan Relocation Learning Center, and Rommel Matunog from the class of Sir Ernest John Logiver, LPT at Panacan Community Learning Center were declared as Promenade King and Queen 2019. (Rusty Salazar Corsame, LPT)
