Bishop Lunas bids farewell to Digos
March 25, 2019 is the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord. This commemorates the visit of the Archangel Gabriel to the Virgin Mary during which he informed her that she would be the Mother of Jesus Christ, the Son of God who will be called “Emmanuel” which means “God is with us”.It is the same inspiration whom the Most Rev. Ronald I. Lunas STL DD draws his personal motto “Emmanuel”, as the Bishop of Pagadian. He personally picked March 25th as his date of installation in the Diocese of Pagadian.
Bishop Lunas who was named the fifth bishop of Pagadian by Pope Francis on November 22, 2018 is replacing Redemptorist Bishop Emmanuel Cabajar DD who resigned from His Office after having attained the age of 75, the canonical age of retirement.
The Diocese of Digos alone has registered about 800 faithful, clergy and religious men and women to join him in his journey from Digos to Pagadian, Zamboanga del Sur. His brother priests from Digos organized their own parish convoys and will merge as one diocese to travel together, accompanying Bishop Lunas and his family towards Pagadian.
The Canonical Installation is set at 2 PM on March 25th at the Sto Nino Cathedral in Pagadian City. (Blaze Q. Cantaros | SUGID)
