Faith news, not fake news: Prelate reminds faithful to be bearers of good news

In a world full of negativity and false information, the faithful should continue to be bearers of good news and not fake news.

In a report posted at CBCP News, the Bishop of the Apostolic Vicariate of Puerto Princesa Socrates Mesiona reminded the faithful to be bearers of good news starting 2019.

Bishop Mesiona told the faithful to emulate the shepherds in the Gospel of today’s reading. “Like the shepherds in the Gospel, let us all be carriers of good news, not gossip. Faith news and not false news,” he stressed.

“These days, there’s so much negativity in this world, we need more good news to uplift the spirit of our brothers and sisters,” he added.

He also urged the Mass attendees to be more prayerful and kinder as new year’s resolutions this 2019 during the Mass in Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God.

PEACE AND BROTHERHOOD

Pope Francis, in his message during Christmas said that he prayed for peace and brotherhood in Syria, Yemen, Venezuela, Nicaragua, and other parts of the world experiencing conflict.

“May all of us receive peace and consolation from the birth of the Savior and, in the knowledge that we are loved by the one heavenly Father, realize anew that we are brothers and sisters and come to live as such,” the pope said.

In his “Urbi et Orbi” blessing, Pope Francis said his Christmas wish is for brotherhood among people with different ideas that they might have the capability of listening to one another.

“By his incarnation, the Son of God tells us that salvation come through love, acceptance, respect for this poor humanity of ours, which we all share in a great variety of races, languages, and cultures,” he added.

Pope Francis called on the 50,000 people gathered in St. Peter’s Square to silently contemplate Christ’s nativity.

He said, “Like the shepherds who first went with haste to the stable, let us halt in wonder before the sign that God has given us: ‘A baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.’ In silence, let us fall to our knees and worship.” (DCHerald)
