Diocese of Digos Prepares for Episcopal Ordination

The Diocese of Digos is now gearing up for the Episcopal Ordination of Bishop-Elect Ronald “Bong” Lunas. January 2, 2019 just a day after New year’s day, the committee members have been formed and started having their meeting tonight together with the Bishop-Elect, and the altar servers have started their practices this morning. The Liturgical Committee on Episcopal Ordination (LICEO) is headed by Fr. Ferdinand Lariosa, DCD. The rest of the committee members have been identified but will still be presented for approval to the Execom headed by Bishop Guillermo Afable, DD.

The Episcopal ordination is scheduled on February 11, 2019 at Mary Mediatrix of All Grace Cathedral. Around 300 priests are expected to attend and the choir will have 50 members. The 800-sitting capacity cathedral will surely be full with just the invited guests and religious, prompting a parishioner to say, “I better bring my own chair on that day, like what people do during Misa de Gallo.”

Fr. Bong Lunas will be the first Bishop to come from the Diocese of Digos, and everyone is excited for his ordination, although he will surely be missed when he transfers to Pagadian. (Leckie Ramos | SUGID)
