School of Evangelization Commissions 36 New Evangelizers
St. Joseph Parish in Sta. Cruz started a school of evangelization in September of this year. This was attended by about 80 parishioners sent by their own GKKs to represent them. This school was tailored from the Mindanao School of Evangelization where a number of diocesan trainees were commisioned to go back to their own dioceses to train more member-evangelizers. They have successfully earned 36 from the SJP, Sta. Cruz.
There are three schools of evangelization being simultaneously conducted in the Diocese of Digos. There is one in Kapatagan, Digos City and another one in Bangkal, Davao del Sur.
November 18, 2018, the once 80 students of St. Joseph Parish produced 36 successful finishers as Fr. Bong Lunas called them. He recognized it wasn’t easy to commit to such a program that takes away your weekends for the next three months in order to study. He further said that they not only successfully hurdled the course but they hurdled the challenges that came with it and came victorious in the end.
The new evangelizers went emotional as they received the crucifix, a Bible and a rosary for each one of them. They will serve as their weapons of strength as they go along the path of evangelization.
After the Commissioning rite that was held in the church during the third mass, they proceeded to the SMA gym for their closing program where they showcased their learned skills in acting, singing and dancing. They have mastered just another art of teaching and they deemed effective. They had the attention of the huge crowd throughout the program while they are retelling Biblical stories through theatrical performances.
Fr. Bong Lunas, in his inspirational message said he was the one who got so inspired by the display of their skills and talents. He was even quoted as saying he wished to take them with him to Pagadian to train his new set of evangelizers. That statement was the best reward they received on that day. (Blaze Q.
