Diocese of Digos sends 28 delegates to the Asian Apostolic Congress

AACOM or the Asian Apostolic Congress on Mercy is a gathering of the Divine Mercy devotees and promoters, among whom are cardinals, bishops, priests, religious and the laity. This event happens once in every three years and this year is the fourth time since it started in 2009. The Congress ran for three days which started from September 26 – 28 at the Subterranean Penang International Convention and Exhibition Center in Penang, Malaysia. The host of this year’s event is the Church of the Divine Mercy Sg Ara.

The theme: “Experiencing Mercy Through the Joy of the Gospel in Asia” is given emphases in daily activities done individually and in groups, one of which is the Walk of Mercy reflecting the Works of the Divine Mercy, getting involved through hands-on sensory activities, spiritually uplifting experience and more engaging ones. At the end of the Congress, the representatives from different participating countries are expected to strengthen their devotion to the Divine Mercy while giving deeper insights into the practice and inculturation of the Divine Mercy devotion among the Asian countries. Each day, participants listened to invited speakers on topics reflecting the theme of the Congress as well as the first-hand testimonials and sharing from Asian representative countries including some representatives coming from the Divine Mercy Shrine in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

The 28 participants that represented the Diocese of Digos came from the different parishes in Sta. Cruz, Digos, Padada, Sta. Maria and Malita. Joining them in this trip is the spiritual director of the Diocesan Movement of the Divine Mercy, Rev. Fr. Joel R. Codilla DCD and the Diocesan Divine Mercy Coordinator, Mrs. Virgie Bacayana.
